Text: 1 Chronicles 16:1-43
The Psalm written in this chapter (also in Psalm105) is a praise to Yahweh for all He has done. There is a special mention of God’s covenant with His people, beginning with verse 15. God’s covenant is a gracious relationship of union, based on oath. It is very similar to marriage. God created the nation of Israel, joined them to Himself (and Himself to them), and vowed that it would be an eternal gracious relationship.
That same gracious covenant continues with us today. Because of His oath, we are united to Jesus Christ. Christ’s righteous life, death, and resurrection belong to us (Rom.6:5). Our sins are forgiven, we are accepted by God as righteous, we are now His children, and we will dwell with Him forever. Thanks and praise be to God alone.
Meditate on verses 15-18. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Father, thank You for Your love that endures forever. Thank You for Your
everlasting covenant in which I am Your child. In the name of Jesus Christ I
have prayed. Amen.
