Text: 2 Kings 23:1-37
When King Josiah heard the reading of Scripture and was convicted, he acted upon it. He destroyed the things associated with wicked idolatry, started reinstating proper worship, and he especially restored the covenant meal of the Passover, which had not been kept for several hundred years.
The covenant meal of the New Covenant is the Lord’s Supper; and it should
be observed as frequently as possible, perhaps at every Lord’s Day worship.
When the people of God gather at the table of Holy Communion, they are
remembering, celebrating, and re-trusting, in full recommitment, to what
Jesus did for them. By His death, His people are freed from God’s eternal
condemnation and hell. They are then refreshed in Christ’s resurrection life.
When believers take the bread and drink, they receive the grace represented by the symbols.
Meditate on verse 3. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, help me apply Your Word to my life. Give me the zeal to study and
meditate on Your Word. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
