Text: Luke 8:1-25
In a typical Jewish culture, Rabbis never discipled women, but for Jesus to allow women; travel with Him and His disciples, He was showing that under God, all people are equal (v.2). The women supported Jesus’ Ministry financially. The women had special love for Jesus because He had healed some of them and to others He had driven demons out of them (vv. 2-3).

Jesus used to speak to crowds through short stories or parables in order to compel the hearers to discover the truth themselves. If you were a lazy thinker, the truth would be concealed from you. (v.4). Many times people could not understand Jesus’ word perhaps for two reasons: (i) They looked forward for a military leader or political Messiah, now with Jesus’ humble teaching and approach He did not suit their preconceived thinking; (ii) The pressure from their religious leaders made them fear to think deeply into Jesus’ words (v. 10). Prophet Isaiah prophesied it (Isaiah 6:9). Many times, in the heat of challenges, you may think that God has abandoned you. This is what the disciples thought when they faced danger of strong wind on the
sea (vv. 23-25). Jesus calmed the storm that time, He continues to calm the storms of life today. Trust Him!

Meditate on verses 2-3. How are you going to apply them to your life?
Our heavenly Father, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that You calm all the storms in my life so that I may focus on the work of evangelism and discipleship with the resources You have entrusted to me. Amen.
