Text: Psalm 135:1-21
Why should you praise God? It brings pleasure not only to Him, but to you as well! Your worship should be an encouraging and exciting experience;
He owns you and that is the best thing ever! We praise Him also for the grace that He gives to us in Christ; for by this, He declares us to be good as well. He delights in giving us the righteousness of Christ and in showing us His power! For the believer, He sees God’s power in everything around Him; in the sky, the rain, the water bodies, and the earth. You should also remember God’s acts of miraculous power in times past. When you do this, it will remind you that God is also powerfully working within your life; He will change you, and make you ready for service and effective witness.
This praise keep you mindful of the temptation to idolatry. We take the good things that God gives, and then front them to give us status and security. When we praise Him, He becomes great, and our secret idols are exposed, and thus revealed as small, worthless things. This gives us power for repentance and change. Praise the Lord from Zion! Amen.
Meditate on verse 5. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Faithful and ever – forgiving Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You make me truly realise that You are the God Almighty, the Creator of all things; and that all I possess is from You and meant for
Your work and glory. Amen.
