Text: Luke 20:1-47.
Jesus Christ’s enemies pretended to be honest and tried their best to capture Him on the wrong side of the law but failed (verse 20). There was no legitimate case to accuse Him of to the authority of the Roman Empire.
By asking about paying the tax to Caesar, the enemies of Jesus Christ knew for sure that they had him. People hated to pay taxes to Rome because it meant supporting pagan authority and its gods. But if Jesus wanted to save His skin and told them to pay taxes as many wanted to hear such news, then He would be treated as a traitor to their belief (religion) and nation. But if He had said no to paying taxes, He would be reported to the Roman authority as a rebel. In all these traps he emerged victorious!
(V.23-25) Amen. In Christ alone you are more than a conqueror. (Rom. 8:31).
Meditate on verse 20. How is your lifestyle? If you were to be accused of some actions around you, would you be innocent?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that my way of life will not ashame Your name and the body of Christ. Amen.
