Text: Romans 5:1-21.
“… just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,” verse 12 [NKJV]. Note that, here sin does not mean a particular sin but the desire to commit sin engulfed the human race whereby man became a sinner by nature. When Adam disobeyed God all his descendants became the inherent sinners. It begins at the point of conception [Psalm 51:5]. This makes it impossible for man to please God. Adam became a subject of death at a point he disobeyed God. Otherwise he was not meant to die.
Death has three clear manifestations: 1. Physical or clinical death [Heb. 9:27], spiritual death, which is separation from God [Eph. 2:1-2] and eternal death which includes both; eternal separation from God and eternal torment in the lake of fire [Rev. 20:11-15]. We regain what Adam lost only in Jesus Christ, our Saviour, our Priest and our King, in the new Adam!
Meditate on verse 12. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to apply verse 6 to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for the accomplished work of Jesus Christ on the cross for me. Amen.
