Text: Romans 1:1-32.
Paul notes that he is not ashamed of the gospel because of the experience he had gone through. Imprisoned in Philippi [Acts 16:23-24], chased out of Thessalonica [Acts 17:10], smuggled out of Berea [Acts 17:14], laughed at in Athens [Acts 17:13] and stoned in Galatia [Acts 14:19]. However,
Paul still maintained that he was not ashamed of the gospel. Today, many Christians act as if they are ashamed of the gospel. Paul quoted Habakkuk 2:4 that the just shall live by faith, meaning that God will always justify a sinner by grace on the basis of faith alone. True faith endures, it is a way of life.
Meditate on verse 16, how are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive me for the times that I have compromised and acted as if I am ashamed of You. Help me to stand firm in my salvation. Amen.
