Text: Genesis 30:1-43.
When studying the genealogy of Jesus Christ, as found in the gospel according to Matthew, it is clear that God uses human weakness to
accomplish His purposes in redemption. That is what we see in Genesis 30. Jacob the deceiver, having been deceived, has two wives (polygamy), sisters who rival each other for Jacobs affection, both of whom in an attempt to undo each other push Jacob further into adultery with their servant girls, and he does not disappoint them! God does not condone such behaviour, but through all this we see God building His Kingdom, using the weak things of this world to demonstrate His power (1 Corinthians 1:27).
You and I have nothing to bring to God that He should receive us or give us eternal life. All we can offer is failure and weakness. But God, in Christ, powerfully accomplished everything for our salvation. Entrust yourself fully into His care and live a grateful life to Him.
Meditate on verses1-5. What is God teaching you from these verses?
My heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me by Your own grace to forgive and give me eternal life. I pray that You bring my entire family to salvation. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
