Text: Exodus 20:8-12; Cf Deuteronomy 5:12-15).
“but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates,” verse 10 (ESV). You realize that the charge to keep the Sabbath is directed to all the people, and more to leaders of families and communities. So you as the leader of a family or community you must guide your people in this. Honour God with your authority. The Church leaders and family heads especially should be at the forefront to encourage people to respect the Sabbath. This should be deliberate, and not a by the way.
Reflect on verse 10, what is God teaching you in this verse, and how are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, give me the ability to guide my family members and all the people under my authority to observe and honour the Lord’s Day.
In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
