Text: Luke 14:1-35.
Jesus was invited by a Pharisee leader with the sole intention of looking for a reason to arrest Him (verse 1). That is why they watched Him closely looking out for any infraction of the law and indeed He went ahead and healed on Sabbath, setting a stage that it is important to do acts of mercy on Sabbath, the Lord’s Day.
On Sunday, let us all engage in Acts or works of mercy like visiting and where it applies, treating the sick otherwise rest from any other routine work! Jesus Christ was not afraid of His enemies. He did what was right even when it was against the legalistic Pharisees expectation.
Are you able to stand for the truth? Meditate on verse 1. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to stand firm in the midst of all adversity. Give me victory. Amen.
