In this advent season, the Lord is calling us to celebrate his goodness because he has been good to us. Many have departed but we are still alive. Let each one of us count their blessings and we will be surprised at what God has done.

Psalm 145 is a celebration of God’s greatness, Goodness and everlasting kingdom.
The Psalmist calls upon all creation to celebrate God’s powerful and merciful nature, his Justice, and his care for the weak and needy. David was one leader who was a worshipper; he saw God in every aspect of his life. Much as he was the King, he always looked at the God King over him. As we end the year, my prayer is that we look back and see the greatness of God in our families, work places, personal life, achievements, losses, pains and all that we have gone through. Can we testify of the goodness of God?

In verses 4-6, God is celebrated across generations. The bible tells every parent to pass on the word of God to all generations (Deuteronomy 6:4-8). The faith you have should never disappear in any generation. It has to be spoken and taught to our children and they too have to pass it on (2 Timothy 2:2). If we were consistent in passing on faith the world would be a better place to live in. Verse 4, One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. 5 They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty and I will meditate on your wonderful works. I wish every parent did this with passion.

The Lord is praised for his character in verses 8-10; he is gracious and compassionate to all his creation, slow to anger, rich in love, he is good to all and in him there is no partiality, our God makes everything beautiful in its time. God calls us to emulate
his character so that people can praise the Lord because of what we do. We do not need to see him physically but we testify for what he has done. We celebrate his eternal nature; his kingdom and dominion endures forever. During this season may the character of God be reflected in our actions towards each other. Can we share our blessings with struggling families, with those in hospitals and prisons, the orphans and the disadvantaged? Let God be revealed to the world through the believers.

In every generation the weak will always be there, the Lord loves them all. God is praised for his care for the weak in verses 14-16; 14 The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. He demonstrates his Shepherd heart of care and protection for the weak. In institutions, there is mentorship, acknowledging that we are not at the same level but we all need to walk together, appreciating each other’s weaknesses, gifting, walking together in joy and challenges. Finally, we celebrate God because he listens to prayer. He answers when we call on to him. During this Christmas season, let us all rejoice and celebrate the King of Kings whose Kingdom endures forever. We celebrate the good shepherd of the flock. He has watched over us with humility and patience.
Oh! how I love Jesus.

God Bless you
