In December 2011, I was invited to serve at All Saints Cathedral, as the Youth Pastor. I had been serving at St. Luke’s Mulago Church of Uganda Chaplaincy; which was my first posting as an ordained minister, particularly working with the Para-medical students and nurses. Since my arrival I have continually served as the Youth Pastor as well as Priest in-charge of missions, but now I also over see the children’s ministry.
In 1989 I made a conscious commitment to Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, and four years later in 1993, I heard the call of God to join full-time Christian Service in the body of Christ while still in high school. From the time I heard the call, I have been serving among the youth and my passion has never faded. In-fact, right from my childhood, I have always had a passion for music, drama, sports, speaking and entertainment to mention but a few, which has made it easy for me to adapt to, and serve among youth of different cultures, races, nationalities and, varying environments.
It is my life mission as Rev. J (which is what ‘they’ call me here at All Saints’), “To love God and live, that others may learn to live and love God.” My passion is seeing young people mature in Christ, through discipleship that is provided by biblical leadership. In light of this, the Youth ministry DNA is a 3’D’ youth ministry approach (Discovery, Development, Deployment). The grace of God, has enabled me to I live out my calling among a Christ centered youth, who are meeting the dynamic needs of the community.
I’ve been married to Monica Lakor since 2008, and we find much joy serving the Lord together; teaching, mentoring, and discipling young people. We have particular interests in the areas of Relationships and Marriage; and Purpose and Calling. We have been blessed with two children, Sophia Pakeken Lakor (4yr) and Lamar Sean Lakor (1yr).
