Text: Job 22:1-30
This is Eliphaz’s third and final speech. He says Job has done evil against the
poor, the widows, and the orphans, and he says Job has spoken evil things about God. Actually, he twisted Job’s words. Eliphaz does say something good– he encourages Job to listen to God’s Word and repent (although Jōb’s arguments are correct). Eliphaz is wrong. We must keep in mind the end of the book – God approves of what Job said, and in chapters 1-2 Job is called righteous.

God’s plan of redemption is always accomplished within conflict. His people
will always be slandered by enemies of the Gospel. When Jesus was arrested by the Jewish religious authorities, witnesses were found to tell lies about Him (Mark 14:56). When Stephen, one of the first Deacons, was preaching about Christ, the authorities hated it, so they got false witnesses to lie about what Stephen had said (Acts 6:13). There will always be people who tell lies about you, even when you have done nothing wrong. It is very frustrating, but do not worry, you do not need to fight for yourself. God knows. Jesus was killed, but He was received by His Father. Stephen was killed, but he was approved by Jesus. Fear not. If you belong to Christ, then God is pleased with you.

Meditate on verse 23. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that this nation will return to You and be restored in You. Amen.
