Text: Luke 7: 1-50.
As we study this passage, we shall notice that Jesus’ self-revelation and how people respond to that revelation are inseparably bound together. So far, the main high points of the message center around who Jesus is, what Jesus has come to do and how people respond to Jesus. Although there are many different responses to Jesus, the passage reveals to the reader that only some responses are right, like the godly centurion (vv. 1-9) and the woman (vv. 37-38, 47-50). It is worth noting, therefore, that genuine understanding of who Jesus is makes the vital first ingredient of faith.

Meditate on verses 18-23. What does Jesus say about how people should respond when puzzled by Him and what He is doing? What lesson does this have for you?

Almighty God, help me to have a genuine grasp of who You are as I study Your Word. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
