Text: Deuteronomy 6:1-9.
“You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates,” (verse 9). Later this command was practiced literally as the Jews took to wearing phylacteries [Matthew 23:5]. Phylacteries were small leather containers keeping small scrolls on which Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21 and Exodus 13:1-10 were written.
At some point in our history, the first reformers of the then English Church would write some selected portions of Scripture on the walls and pillars of the Churches so that people could familiarise with them. The more conversant you are with the Word of God, the more you admire and are positively affected by it.
Reflect on verses 4-9, how are you going to apply them to life and family?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that Your Law will be hidden in my heart so that I will not sin against You. Amen.
