Text: 1 Peter 5:1-14

You are called to lead others by exercising oversight, willingly, not for shameful gain or domination but with the spirit of good example (vv.1-4). Do not harass or torture those you are leading. Instead, comfort and give godly direction. Do not be motivated by shameful gain, like corruption in order for you to lead.

We need to emulate Jesus Christ. Our hearts should be moved by the things that moved His heart (Mat. 9:36). Let us see the people we are leading the way Jesus sees them. We are leading special people, created in the image of God, so let us handle them tenderly.

Meditate on verses 1-4. How are you going to apply them to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive me where I may have been motivated by money to lead. Amen.
