Text: 2Timothy 3:1-17.
“Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men,” verses 8-9-ESV. Jannes and Jambres were the Egyptian magicians who opposed Moses by also performing miracles. Many people in the media world today are distorting the true meaning of life. To make matters worse, even some “Churches” are labouring with similar ill intensions. They have distorted the true gospel of repentance and forgiveness and instead tell unsuspecting people what these people yearn to hear.
The media is awash with pastors being worshipped like God. The media has influenced some Churches on how to worship by deliberately screening particular styles of worship with intent to bias their audiences. Pornography and nude pictures are seen both in print and television. The Bible is warning people against distorting the truth and that their days are numbered! The truth is that the media can influence the Church in a positive manner. The people behind any negative influence should repent.
Reflect on verse 9, what is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to apply verse 10 to your life and family?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for those people who are influencing society negatively through the media to repent. Father, heal
our land. Amen.
