Text: Micah 6:1-16

It is interesting that God is calling on the mountains to witness and confirm that Israel is guilty (vv.1-2). This is because it was on the mountains and high places that Israel had built pagan altars and practiced Idolatry (1 Kings 14:23; Jeremiah 17:2-3; Ezek. 20:28). The people could not answer God (v.3) because He had done no wrong to them but had instead blessed them with everygood thing; and had also exercised great patience with them despite their ungratefulness (vv. 3-5).

People thought they would appease God by offering sacrifices to Him (vv.6- 7). All sacrifices and any other religious rituals cannot impress God; He wants a changed life emanating from a changed heart. God yearns to see fairness, justice and mercy and humility (v.8). These virtues can only be realised through Jesus Christ only. On your own you will struggle and fail.

Meditate on verse 8. How are you going to apply it to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me practice genuine love, have mercy and walk humbly before You. Amen.
