“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.” (2 Cor. 10:4)

Recognizing Strongholds:
1. Strongholds are stubborn — They seem impossible to break. They cannot be broken down through religious activity or in our own strength.
2. Strongholds are irrational — They don’t make sense. An offensive habit can become addictive, ruin your health, make your life miserable, and can even shorten your life.
3. Strongholds are uncontrollable – A pattern of behavior can become a habit and you cannot stop doing it. These include feelings of depression, out of control temper, lying, reading pornography and watching too much TV among others.
4. Strongholds are counterproductive —

Something we do or use that we think will help us feel better by say relieving stress or helping us sleep, can soon become addictive and may even bring death. Satan can tempt us with something as a coping mechanism or a supposed cure for our problems but instead it produces more frustration. Jesus Christ is our only Deliverer.

Breaking Strongholds:
1. There must be consecration before the assignment. Jeremiah 1:9 says, “The LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.” We must consecrate ourselves. (Isaiah 6:5-7, Ezekiel 2:1)

2. Confronting rebellious and stubborn situations and dealing with them. This involves speaking prophetically to rebellion and proclaiming the truth in the word of God. (Ezekiel 2:1-9)

Questions
1. Which strongholds are God exposing in your life, family, community and nation?
2. How have you allowed these strongholds to flourish in your life?
3. How will you respond to the Holy Spirit as He convicts you to deal with these strongholds?

Prayer points
1. Pray that God will open your eyes and the eyes of those around you to understand and deal with strongholds that have held you and your family back.
2. Pray that God will train you and other ministers to deal effectively with strongholds as He consecrates you to His service.
